How do you know that they don't do that now? In most games, that would be upper-level tinfoil-helmet thinking, but CCP has indeed **** in their own sandbox (to use your phrase) enough that it is actually conceivable...

I've just come back to eve after a long absence, and its funny that CCP is still up to the same shenanigans. Whether it's incompetance or malfeasance is almost irrelevant -- this just looks bad given their history and is likely to make people question whether to continue their subscriptions.
I'm not going to quit, but I'm also not going to liven up my other dormant accounts as was my initial plan.
